Every year South Tyneside Sexual Health support the Family Planning Association ‘Sexual Health Week’ which promotes different key themes and public health messages each year.
The national theme for this year’s sexual health week is Sex, Relationships and Disability.
South Tyneside Sexual Health believe every young person should have equal access to quality relationships and sexual health advice, sexual health services and general wellbeing support.
Sex education in England is becoming mandatory in 2020 , still relationship and sex education in schools remains a taboo subject.
Sex and disability simply isn’t talked about enough meaning many young people may miss out on valuable, education information and support.
During Sexual Health Week, South Tyneside Sexual Health’s community outreach team are out in force working with partners in the community.
The service aims to encourage professionals and community partners to embed healthy discussion’s around sexual health to their service users normalizing condom use and sexual health screening.
The community outreach team will be working across the borough with local colleges, health services and the general public promoting this very valuable message for Sexual Health Week 2019
