South Tyneside Youth Health Ambassadors are a group of volunteers aged 14-17. The ambassadors have been trained to undertake inspections of health services, to offer information and advice to their peers and to run their own health campaigns’. The ambassadors act as advocates for their peers to make health services better for young people in South Tyneside. South Tyneside Sexual Health opened up its doors to the health ambassadors, providing an insight as to what the service offers delivering a tailored training session and giving the young people a guided tour of the clinic. The Sexual Health Service continuously strives to improve and ensure services are young people friendly. The health ambassador’s evaluate and provide feedback on aspects of the service that are good and that could also be improved. As a service we feel it is vitally important that we gain first hand feedback from the young people of South Tyneside. The Outreach team work intensively with South Tyneside’s Public Health Change 4 Life team working closely with the young people across FE Schools to ensure the younger population have a voice and input on improving local Sexual Health Services.
South Tyneside Sexual Health would like to thank the young people for attending and providing valuable feedback.
